About Ericson Elementary
Ericson Elementary was officially opened in February 1971 when we had 188 children and four classrooms. In the late 70s, 80s and 90s, we had approximately 1,200 students and 44 classrooms. We were the second largest elementary school in the district.
Today, Ericson is proud to serve a culturally diverse student population made up of more than 17 different ethnic groups with over 26 different languages. Ericson is a unique place where we value and promote diversity and educational equity. We are a Pre-K through grade 5 school with an active enrollment of 700 students.
Our school was named after Leif Ericson ( c. 970 – c. 1020), the heroic Norseman (Viking) who is believed to have made the first voyage to North America in about 1000 C.E.
School Spirit Song
You're a Grand Old School
Sing to the tune "You're a Grand Old Flag"
You're a grand old school
You're a high ranking school
You're the best in the west we all say (ERICSON!)
Here the kids are smart and they do their part
We're loyal to you every day.
Every heart beats true for our own colors, too.
We're the best school in every way.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
But our school is here to stay, (ERICSON!)
